Nice spot for a small bite. We all got chowder bread bowls and some beers. And we through in a crab dip and fried calamari for good measure. All the food was tasty.

Excellent fish and chips. Service wasn't bad either.

During my visit to Maritime museum I was very hungry and suddenly I noticed this restaurant. What I specially liked is the outdoor sitting arrangement is beautiful so I entered. Service is very fast and staffs are nice too. I loved chicken burger🍔and cold drinks. Great value for money.

We had a terrible experience here with both food and service. We had to ask several times for water and our food came out before ever got any. When we wanted more water we had to go to the bar ourselves to get a refill. The oysters were not properly cleaned and had bits of shell in them. The lobster Mac and cheese had enough garlic to keep all vampires away for the rest of the day with one bite. The crab cakes and tomato soup were good as was the New England clam chowder. Our waiter came by to take our order and after our food arrived. Other than that we never saw him. We had to hunt him down just to pay our bill. One of my worst restaurant experiences ever.

This was one of the best dining experiences I'd had in San Francisco. Me and my girlfriend had a lovely time. We will definitely be back and more than likely stay in the Hotel. The staff were fantastic and took great care of us.

Outstanding location for quality seafood. I often meet people here to talk. I will be bringing friends next time. It has a cool feel to it. Feels like a place in Los Angeles I liked.

Friendly service at a great location. Very convenient. Good selection. I recommend the Eggs Benedict Oscar. Family friendly. The crab cakes were good as well

Great dinner. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Wife had the crab cakes. Very attentive server. Wonderful atmosphere.

The place was completely dead. Took 15 minutes for us to be addressed at our table. We ordered everything at once. Drinks, soup and meal. We were very specific about my friends allergy and not tk mix up the clam chowder and the crab corn chowder. The beer came out first. No waters like we asked for. Someone brought out two very small glasses of water that had a film or something around the rim of each glass. 20 min later the food arrived all at once. She gave my friend who is allergic the clam corn chowder. The waitress wasnt apologetic at all. The chicken club sandwich was dripping with grease and had very old cheese no thrilled at all with this plac . Waitress only came by 2 times. No refills or additional beer offered.

Service was great. New England Clam chowder was delicious but could use less salt. Lobster Mac and cheese was very disappointing. Lobster meat tasted old, Mac and cheese was bland.

Our new favorite lunch spot in San Francisco...the chowders are so good! New England and Manhattan chowder, even crab & corn (my son's favorite)..I also had the Anchor California Lager, a local SF creation. This would also be a great place for cocktails.

The bloody mermaid (a unique twist on the bloody mary) has a one-of-a-kind flavor and is very good in my opinion. The crab dip came out very hot and was enjoyable. The grilled chicken sandwich is fabulously flavorful and we also got a side of truffle fries. Highly recommend the truffle fries. Great service too!

The kids asked to go back to this restaurant again. They must have liked it right the first time. Good atmosphere and great service.

Excellent chowder and house red wine. Enjoyed green tea with the outdoor fire pits as well. Would recommend.

My husband and I went to Blue Mermaid for breakfast. Service was unfriendly and inhospitable, most especially the host. Food was subpar and unsatisfying. The lunch and dinner options and staff may be completely different. However, the only way to describe our experience was disappointing.

Overall is okay. Service is excellent first of all. Clam chowder is delicious too..just the oysters, are not as fresh as the one I had in New England. Wine is good tho..

Wife and I really enjoyed the drinks and service! We ate before we arrived but our server and drinks were amazing! I definitely recommend drinking a Painted Ladies. 🙌🏻🥇

Three types of clam chowder to choose from. All of them have bacon to flavor the soup. Delicious for me, but a show stopped for my pescatarian girlfriend. I had the corn clam chowder which was awesome

Place was clean and our server was very nice and helpful. I appreciated her input on some dishes specially the clam chowder.

went to have dinner at the blue mermaid after a long drive from las vegas. had the nicest vegetarian pasta and lovely rose wine. service was impeccable.

The Greek yogurt with fruit was super yummy. Breakfast burrito needed some help and looked unappetizing. Staff was friendly and tried to give us menus twice after we had already ordered. My cappuccino come out after the food had been served which was okay, but for me I like to enjoy some coffee then eat a bit a food-so my food sat to the side while I waited for my cappuccino.

Came here around 11am one day and it wasn’t too busy. A very nice looking restaurant and good service. I tried the crab and corn chowder in a bread bowl and it was very good. The bread was fresh, crispy on outside and soft on the inside. The soup had huge chunks of seafood. Overall a very filling and delicious meal.

Both my spouse and myself ordered the crab and corn chowder in a bread bowl. The chowder was really good. The server tried up selling another menu item despite my sole inquiry about chowder options. The food was served really quick. The sourdough was good. We were only confused by which door was the entrance. I think we entered through a side door, but the staff was still very courteous. Enter through the street side door to go the right way.

Very delicious food, while the menu selection looks limited but it tastes amazing. We had fish and chips and shrimp rolls.

Love it - we would have walked straight past if we hadn’t been given a recommendation to try this place. Crab and corn chowder was amazing as were the fish cakes. Service and value are also excellent.

The food was really good however the service was terrible. I took my family to San Francisco this past weekend to visit my brother and his wife and they suggested this place. We arrived in the late afternoon and was offered a table outdoors which was fine. It was getting a little cold and my daughter politely asked the waiter if he could turn on the heat lamp and he attempted to without success. He stated that he will have someone come check it out but no one ever came. We ordered our food and when the food came my wife noticed the waiter forgot her order. This was a very unpleasant experience and we will not recommend this place to friends and family.

Loved this restaurant, highly recommend! The atmosphere was lovely - we sat on the patio and had the place to ourselves. Great wine selection and appetizers, the charcuterie board was delicious and they brought us extra bread when we asked.

Blue Mermaid is the typical hotel restaurant. Food was pretty good but not amazing. I had a stew full of seafood but it felt like a hodge podge of random things. We ordered room service for the desserts and the carrot cake was wonderful. The staff is the best part of this place.

Really loved the place! We went to try the famous clam chowder and we absolutely loved it! I definitely recommend the New England one, that's the best. The service is really great, they're all friendly and ready to answer any questions you have.

I went for brunch while exploring Fisherman's Wharf and had the smoked salmon plate. Was very pleased with the food and price (especially for the area). It was one of the less-busy places in the area on a pretty crowded weekend and I didn't have to wait here (for a spot at the bar by myself).I believe they were training a new staff member behind the bar, as he didn't really seem to know what he was doing very much, but he had help and was friendly so it wasn't terrible and I wouldn't hold that against them.

Looks like a tourists trap, considering the location and the size of that restaurant but we were so hungry we decided to take the chance. Fortunately, the service was on spot and the food was actually great. I should add that the restaurant was not full... The fish and chips is a safe and tasty dish. There is a hotel above the restaurant and the design inside looks very nice and traditional. Bottom line, this is a good place if you are hungry and stuck in a touristic area.

We had heard that the crab and corn chowder was good here so we stopped in for a meal. The soup was good and the bread bowl was also an uncommon addition. You can also just get a bowl of soup and they serve it with the sourdough bread. The outdoor patio was nice. We enjoyed our lunch here.

Came here for the clam chowder, ordered an iced tea too.The clam chowder was good and it was in the bread bowl so it costs about 13.But for some reason they charged me $5.00 for a glass of iced tea! This is the cheapest beverage in the world next to water, it costs just pennies to make a glass. As much as I liked the soup there's no way I can give a good review to someone attempting to steal my money. Had I known I would have just had water. Now you know.

Overall a good place to eat near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Pros: Great service, pet friendly on the patio (take a jacket even in summer!), patio heaters and fire pit seating, food is good, nice rustic atmosphere with sounds of the city streets. Cons: It will get chilly especially in evening, and just watch the menu prices, which are reasonable but do easily add up. The portions are substantial so order accordingly and it will help with the bill. We over ordered amounts. SF has an additional fee or tax that will also show up on the bill.
